FREE AUSTRALIA PARTY South Australia
Senator David Winderlich is a man of most excellent principle and deserves our support and respect and that of the community at large. Politicians like him are a rare and exceptional commodity and we [our Australian] society would not be in this mess if there were more like him.
Speaking with him privately, he may well have sacrificed his chance of re-election and he did this with that knowledge that the action he took in representing the people may well cost him his political future. I see him as a hero. A true Australian hero. A man of principle.
If you do not have a FREE Australia Party in your state, please support the Democrats. Those of you in FREE (SA), I recommend you direct your preferences to the Democrats.
In addition; I need to add reference to Friday's petition to the House of Parliament.
1. Friday - no problems with the massive police presence, virtually no defect notices for the bikes, certainly NO other issues. Very orderly and peaceful.
2. Saturday - 1/2 to 2/3's receive police attention, defects, notices etc. No media presence.. significant police hassles. (SAPOL acting politically??)
3. Friday - the government REFUSED to accept a petition by an elector, despite repeated requests to do so. This means the government is NOT acting with good governance (taking complaint of the people) and should be dismissed by Vice-Regal (HRH) order immediately, a care-taker government installed and an election called. This single refusal by the government means that it is now acting "ultra-vires", ie, outside of it's authority and ignoring its OBLIGATION to represent the people - this is a criminal act by the government.
FYI, I have taken the liberty to enclose a draft copy of the petition as given to me. (download attached link at base of this page)
It seeks "relief", and quite rightly so.

David’s Action Bulletin
Edition 9 Friday 1st May 2009
The Rebel Motorcycle Club joined with other SA Motorcycle Clubs to show their support to repeal the Serious Organised Crime Control Act (SOCCA) by gathering on the steps of Parliament house today at 2pm. Representatives from 7 Motorcycle clubs and the FREE Australia Party handed over a petition to David Winderlich to repeal the Act.
David then gave a speech to the crowd of hundreds outlining his opposition to the Act, saying he accepted the petition in accordance with the rights of citizens to have their voice heard in parliament. You can see the speech below.
<!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->MY ADDRESS TO THE RALLY
I should make my position very clear at the outset. I know everyone knows that there are criminal elements in bikie gangs. And my position there is like everyone else’s- criminals should be arrested and charged and the police have my full support in finding and arresting any criminal bikies.
So my message to the biker community is clean up your act, deal with your rogue elements and don’t expect any support from me for any violence or wrong-doing
But I know that there are many ordinary people in bikie clubs as well and there are groups like Bikies against Child Abuse and the Christian Longriders.
And my message to the rest of the community is don’t be panicked into assuming every bikie is evil. Have some courage, resist the Government’s scare-mongering.
I accept this petition for three reasons
Firstly because it is my job – I am a voice for the community to make sure individuals and groups can be heard
And today you are seeking to exercise an ancient tradition of presenting a petition to your Parliament.
And you can only exercise that right if a member of Parliament presents that petition.
You are very unpopular. People are scared of bikies and so other members of Parliament even though they agree with you were not game to come and receive your petition
Well I am not afraid to receive it. It is my responsibility as a member of this Parliament to accept your petition and I would do it even if I did not agree with it.
But I do agree and that is the second reason for me to accept this petition.
The serious and organised crime control act is a terrible law. You can be convicted under this law on the basis of secret evidence – that is you won’t get to hear or argue against the reasons why you are being sent to jail. Everyone deserves a fair trial.
But this law is a threat to ordinary South Australians.
Under this law you can go to jail for five years if you go fishing with your uncle and he is ever were a member of an outlawed organisation.
Under this law you can go to jail for five years if you go fishing with your uncle and he is ever were a member of an outlawed organisation.
Under this law you can go to jail for five years if you regularly email your cousin and he is or she is or ever was a member of an outlawed organisation.
And you can go to jail even if the people you are associating with have not ever committed a crime.
This law sends you to jail for who you know not what you do.
But most of all I accept this petition because it is the right thing to do. Everyone who works in politics has told me not to accept it. Pretend you are not here they said- you will never get elected if you are seen with bikies. My staff said write me a good reference.
And I almost listened to them. But I have two daughters who told me you must accept it or you are just another politician.
Now I need about 40,000 votes to have any show of being elected. And everyone tells me I have lost those by doing this.
But I would trade all of those votes and any chance of re-election for the votes and the respect of my daughters.
So that is why I accept your petition and that is why I will take it to Parliament.
Thanks for your feedback,
David Winderlich
